Govt. to welcome constitutional amendment: Gilani


LAHORE: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said Thursday the government is ready to welcome the constitutional amendment brought jointly from the opposition and coalition partners and reiterated President Zardari’s pledge in favor of constitutional amendment announced in national assembly earlier this year.Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said this after visiting Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) to enquire after the health of President PPP Lahore, Azizur Rehman Chanhere on Thursday night. Chan was admitted to PIC after he received heart attack. PM ordered chief executive of the institution to provide best medical facilities to the ailing PPP leader. Briefly talking to media persons on the occasion, PM said that Government is in contact with all political parties on the issues of national interest. To a question he said that all the concerns of PML-N would be removed in order to establish a better relation.Responding to a question about Indian cricket team's visit to Pakistan he said that Government is in contact with India but after Mumbai terrorist attacks present situation is more important than cricket ties. He said that he had a meeting with Chief Minister Punjab in which issues of mutual interest were discussed. Government will take along all political forces in order to set new trends in democracy, he said.
